Jason Hanna is a native of the south, born in South Carolina and living much of his life in North Carolina. However, his passion for the natural was sparked as a young boy growing up in Montana. Back then, he always wanted to be a truck driver or fireman like most little boys, but today landscape design seems to be the best fit for Jason's desire to create and his love for plants and the outdoors.

Jason holds a BS in Horticulture from North Carolina State University. He acquired this degree after transferring out of NCSU's prestigious School of Design where he majored in Architecture for 3 years. During his time at the School of Design Jason found himself constantly interested in how his architectural designs and the landscape related to each other. He considered transferring into the Landscape Architecture curriculum, but was not interested in the urban planning that seemed to dominate the field. Moreover, his positive experience working for Michael Moorefield AIA, a primarily residential architect in Wilmington, NC, cemented the notion that Jason enjoyed working with more intimate spaces. Jason was then encouraged by a friend to look into the Horticulture program at NCSU because it offered a landscape design focus, and the decision seemed natural.

During his time at NCSU, Jason worked for the previously mentioned Michael Moorefield AIA (intern/model builder), along with McClure Hopkins Architects (intern/model builder), Arbor Enterprises (landscape installation) and Leisure Landscapes (designer/salesman). After graduation, Jason and his wife, Danielle, decided to move closer to family and he took a job with Benton Landscapes (now Ecoscapes) as a designer/salesman in Charlotte, NC. Jason thoroughly enjoyed his time with Benton, but Charlotte just didn't seem like home, so Jason and family packed up their bags and moved back to Raleigh where he went back to work for Leisure Landscapes. Jason worked another two years for Leisure Landscapes before deciding to begin his own design firm.

Overall, Jason has been training and working in the design field since 1999 and focusing on landscape design since 2003. Besides the BS in Horticulture, Jason is also a NC Certified Plant Professional and an ICPI Certified Paver Installer. He has a thorough understanding of landscape installation techniques due to his time working in the field along with managing the installation of his designs. Jason strives to combine all of his broad experiences into intelligent, thoughtful, practical and beautiful landscape designs.
